RIM seems to have a hot smartphone on its hands as the BlackBerry Tour is generating the amount of pre-release buzz that shows that cellphone fans are excited about the unit. As we reported, both Verizon and Sprint will be offering the Tour in the U.S.; both carriers have put up web sites for the handset where those interested can sign up to receive more information on the device as we get closer to launch date. Speaking of launch dates, Verizon has been mum and Sprint says the phone will be out "later this summer". But there is a third carrier that looks to have a more concrete release date for the Tour. Leaked info sheets from Canadian firm Telus show that they are planning a July 15th launch for the new BlackBerry.
According to the documents, the Tour will cost $249.99 with the customary Canadian 3-year contract promotion. Without that promotion, a 3 year contract will allow you to buy the Tour for $449.99. With a 2 year deal, the phone will set you back $549.99 and it is $599.99 with a 1 year pact. Off contract, the Tour is $649.99. In comparison, Sprint has said that it will be offering the Tour with a 2 year contract for $199.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.
