Teaser hints at special capabilities for the bezel-less screen of the ZTE Nubia Z9
Think bezel-less screen, and if you are a loyal PhoneArena reader your mind should immediately go to the ZTE Nubia Z9. We've shown you numerous leaked photographs of ZTE's new flagship, sans side bezels. The phone will be introduced on May 6th and based on a teaser released Tuesday in China, the screen will have some special features.
According to Ni Fei, GM of ZTE, there have been two important events in smartphone history related to user interaction. The first, dating back to the 1990s, was the introduction of the Nokia physical QWERTY keyboard. The second was the unveiling of the touchscreen Apple iPhone in the 2000s. According to the teaser, a third such event will be coming with the unwrapping of the Nubia Z9. ZTE calls it the "third interaction revolution."
Whether this will be as important in terms of user interaction as the Nokia QWERTY and the iPhone's touchscreen, will only be determined years down the road.

And it all seems to be tied in to the bezel-less display. Called 3D edge touch, pressing on the edge of the screen where a bezel might normally be, will open the camera, activate the shutter, make phone calls and more. ZTE plans on opening up the 3D edge touch API for third parties to develop more features for it.
Whether this will be as important in terms of user interaction as the Nokia QWERTY and the iPhone's touchscreen, will only be determined years down the road.
