T-Mobile starts rolling out Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Android 9.0 Pie update
Samsung did not forget its older smartphones, even if they're not as popular as the Galaxy S flagships. The Galaxy S8 Active is one of Samsung's rugged handsets that made its debut on the market about two years ago.
At that time, the most recent Android version released by Google was Android 7.0 Nougat. Since the Galaxy S8 Active qualifies for two major Android OS updates, Android 9.0 Pie would be the last important software update the phone is entitled to.
Long story short, if you bought your Samsung Galaxy S8 Active from T-Mobile, you can now update your phone to Android 9.0 Pie. First spotted by TmoNews, the update weighs in at 1.7GB, so make sure you have enough storage space.
Apart from all the new features and improvements added via Android Pie, the update also includes the July security patch. Keep in mind that after upgrading to Android 9.0 Pie, some app like Calculator, Samsung Internet, Samsung Health, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Members need to be updated individually.
