T-Mobile's myTouch line to jump past Android 2.1 to get Froyo
Just a few weeks ago, owners of the myTouch 3G were hoping just to get the Android 2.1 upgrade. Andrew Sherrard, T-Mobile's VP of product innovation, gave the word early last month that Android 2.1 was coming to the device. All of a sudden, myTouch 3G users were dreaming about pinch-to-zoom in the browser, using voice to request a Google Search or to fill out a data field. But sometimes when you wish for something, you actually get more than what you were wishing for. A leaked T-Mobile document says that all myTouch phones will be getting the Android 2.2 Froyo update! It means a modified version of the Faves Gallery so that you don't have to skim through e-mails and calls that you might consider less important than communication from your top 20 faves. Consider it cellular triage. Like the Genius button on the myTouch 3G Slide's keyboard, there will be a Genius button app that can tell you when your next appointment is, show you directions and even map out traffic. The upgrade will also give you full Exchange support for your contacts, mail and calendar. T-Mobile says that Froyo is coming soon, so let's leave it at that.
