Alas, Swype keyboard app for Android and iOS gets discontinued
Bad news for fans of one of the most popular keyboard apps – Swype. It appears that Nuance, the company that bought the app seven years ago has decided to discontinue both the Android and iOS apps.
According to a message published by a redditor, the company wishes to rather focus on offering its AI solutions to businesses and will soon leave the direct-to-consumer market.

Nuance will no longer be updating the Swype+Dragon keyboard for Android. We’re sorry to leave the direct-to-consumer keyboard business, but this change is necessary to allow us to concentrate on developing our AI solutions for sale directly to businesses. We hope you enjoyed using Swype, we sure enjoyed working with the Swype community.
Although there are good alternatives to Swype available in the Google Play Store, such as Gboard, Fleksy, and SwiftKey, many users will argue that Nuance's app is the fastest and most accurate of all.
Swype is still available for download via App Store and Google Play, but it looks like the apps won't be updated with new features going forward. We're waiting for Nuance's official statement on the matter, but we don't expect any good news.
