Sharing animated GIFs is a long-time Internet tradition – when emojis don't cut it, or even one of the new "sticker" pictures fall short of expressing your true reaction, GIFs are a go-to choice. These are usually cut from a popular TV show or movie, and aim to be instantly relatable to whoever your target audience is. However, in more recent times, custom-made GIFs are also becoming a popular option thanks to a handful of apps available out there.

But it was probably after Snapchat first introduced its Snapchat Lens option that app developers started to really look into some cool ways that they can use face-recognition algorithms mixed with custom animations.
