Stephen Elop: Windows Phone 8 handsets to be released "relatively near term"
In a recent talk with Reuters, Nokia's Stephen Elop has promised that the first Windows Phone 8 handsets of the venerable company will come out "relatively near term". However, he didn't choose to reveal any specific release date.

Still, with Nokia World being scheduled for September 5-6, there are rumors that the Finnish phone maker may choose its own event to unveil its latest creation/s. The actual release is currently believed to happen sometime in October, although that's still unconfirmed.

Nokia, which has created probably the best Windows Phone devices to date, is still struggling to make its way back to profitability, as Microsoft's platform it still struggling itself. But that doesn't mean Nokia isn't confident in its strategy of choice:

"I don't think about rewinding the clock and thinking about competing elsewhere. In today's war ... (between) Android, Apple and Windows, we are very clear, we are fighting that with the Windows phone."

Nokia is a great company, and the mobile industry can benefit immensely from it. We really hope that the Finns will come up with something extraordinary at Nokia World, which, by the way, is expected to happen right before the introduction of the next iPhone. September - what a fine month for mobile!
