Sprint's 4G network is readying itself for the Big Apple
Recently we reported that Sprint's 4G WiMAX network is going live in a few coastal cities along the east, but it looks like the biggest city in the country is prepping for an inevitable launch. There have been reports from various owners of Sprint 4G devices, like the HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G, that they've recently started to see that 4G icon pop up on their devices in New York City – indicating the presence of the next generation network. However, it doesn't seem consistent just yet as it is intermittently coming on for them – but a Sprint PR rep stated that the network is being prepped for an anticipated launch. It'll truly be interesting to see how Sprint's network will handle one of the most heavily saturated markets with their next-gen high speed network. Regardless, 4G enabled smartphone owners can soon take advantage of that additional $10 per month that they're paying for right now.
