Sprint blocks out vacation days for a major phone announcement
Every year before the Apple iPhone would launch, we would get word that AT&T had prevented employees from taking a vacation during certain days, one of which was usually the day that the latest version of Apple's touchscreen phone would be released. With Sprint expected to be a recipient of the next-gen iPhone, it should come as no surprise that the nation's third largest carrier is apparently blacking out some days when Sprint employees will not be allowed to take a vacation. And no, we don't think for a moment that this is related to the now delayed launch of the BlackBerry Curve 9350 that we told you about earlier today.
The information about the blacked out dates comes from a leaked screenshot of an internal memo meant for Sprint employees. The dates being blacked out are September 30 through October 15th and the rumors of an early October launch of the Apple iPhone 5 certainly fits within those dates. Hopefully, Sprint reps won't be too cranky to handle the inevitable rush of store traffic that an iPhone launch usually produces. As we reported, Best Buy is expected to soon take pre-orders for the Sprint variant of the next-gen Apple iPhone.
