One of our loyal readers, who happens to be a Sprint customer, has just sent us a screenshot from his Motorola Moto X. An email he received from Motorola invited him to take part in a soak test for an upcoming software update. Considering that Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile customers with the same device have already received Android 4.4, it wouldn't be a stretch to consider that this soak test is leading up to the KitKat update for the phone on the nation's third largest carrier.
Motorola is readying a soak test for the Sprint branded Motorola Moto X
Motorola conducts these soak tests for some members of the Motorola Feedback Network. Those whose phone is part of the test must agree to total confidentiality. The advantage to conduct thesetests is that it allows the Google subsidiary to check out a software update on a limited number of phones before a widespread rollout. This enables Motorola to limit any problems with a software update to a small number of handsets, making it easier for the manufacturer to fix any problems before they spread to a larger number of phones.
Earlier on Wednesday, Motorola announced that the Cyber Monday $150 sale that was held up due to technical difficulties with the Moto Maker site, will now take place on December 9th. Those interested can register for the sale starting at noon EST next Monday.
