Sprint Guardian bundles smartphone security with user safety, coming this summer
Sprint Guardian is a newly announced bundle of smartphone tools made with safety and security in mind. It features utilities that allow parents to control their teenage kids' devices, software that enables remote tracking of lost or stolen handsets, anti-malware tools, and more. The software tools included in the bundle are courtesy of Safely and Lookout.

To start, the software pack from Safely includes Sprint Mobile Controls, which grants parents with control over their child's smartphone. With it, the device can be locked remotely, either manually or by schedule. Also, it provide parents with access to the handset's address book and list of installed applications. Another software tool that is included is Sprint Drive First, which automatically locks a teen's mobile device while they are travelling at more than 10mph – while driving to school, example. The third app in the bundle is called Sprint Family Locator, and as the name suggests, it allows users to locate their loved ones on an interactive map. Users will be able to take advantage of these tools for $9.99 per month.

The tools from Lookout are focused on smartphone security and prevention of identity theft. Lookout Family enables users to locate their family member's missing smartphone and should it be required, the device in question can be remotely locked or wiped. Protection against malware, spyware, and phishing scams also comes included in the software. Last but not least, smartpones can be managed remotely via a web interface, which allows photos, contacts, and call history to be backed up safely and securely. The Lookout security tools will cost $4.99 per month.

Sprint Guardian will be available on most of the carrier's Android devices later this summer.
