Spreadtrum announces the first triple-SIM solution
Spreadtrum Communications, a Chinese semiconductor company, has announced the first ever single chip triple-SIM card solution. The new chip, SC6600L7, is an improvement on the previous dual-SIM chip they released in 2008.
The SC6600L7 will allow allow a user to operate three separate lines one device. Such functionality could be ideal for business users that might have separate business and personal lines, but want to use only one device.
Spreadtrum sees the chip being especially useful in emerging markets like South Asia, Africa, and South America, where users might be using multiple operators due to varying promotional offers and discounts.
