Specs leak for the Samsung Hennessy Android flip phone
In the middle of last month, we got your attention by mentioning that Korean manufacturer Samsung was hard at work putting together a flip phone that would be powered by Android. On Friday, some more information about the device, including a code name, has leaked out. The information comes from Japan and lists the codename of the device as the Samsung Hennessy (SCH-W789).
The flip phone will have a 3.5 inch display on both sides of the handset, with a 320 x 480 resolution. 1GB of RAM should be inside the unit and a 5MP snapper will handle the picture-taking chores. The report says that Android 4.1.2 will initially grace the model with an update in the works down the road. It looks as though the Samsung Hennessy will be available in just one color, Luxury Gold.
If this information does pan out and Samsung deliver this model, it wouldn't be the first dual-screen flip that the manufacturer produced. Back in 2011, the SCH-W999 was introduced for China Telecom, powered by Android 2.3 with TouchWiz running on top. The model sported a pair of 3.5 inch Super AMOLED screens while a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor was under the hood. A 5MP camera was on board and the device featured both GSM and CDMA 3G connectivity. With support for dual SIM cards, this model was said to be priced as high as $1570.
