Sony's 2013 flagships tipped, Q4 might see a quad-core Cortex-A15 beast with a huge battery
Sony already rose to prominence among Android manufactures this year, snatching the 2nd place from HTC, with just the almighty Samsung before it. If the rumored Sony Yuga/Odin flagships for the first half of next year are any indication, it might also carry this trend into 2013.
After all, the leaks point to 5-inchers with Full HD displays, quad-core processors and 13 MP Exmor RS cameras on the back, which won't be something to sniff at even in the summer of next year.
Now a user in the leaky Sony forum for their upcoming machines, is confirming the specs we expect for the Odin/Yuga, but throws a few more devices in the mix, if Google's translation is to be trusted:
quarterly flagship machine:
5 inch 1080P screen
A15 4-core
3GB RAM
3,000 mAh battery
16 megapixel camera
overall size and Yuga almost. The hardware configuration the stereotypes too early to say, may change next October.
first half of the high-end machine:
Xperia 4 - 720p ~ 360PPI, 12MP, MSM8960T, 1.5GB, microSD, 16GB, 1800mAh
Xperia - 1080p 2400mAh
Xperia 5R - 1080p 440PPI, 13MP, APQ8064, LTE, 2GB, microSD, 32GB, 2800mAh, waterproof IP57
Xperia 6 - 1080p ~ 370PPI, 13MP, APQ8064, LTE, 3GB, microSD, 32GB, 3500mAh
5 inch 1080P screen
A15 4-core
3GB RAM
3,000 mAh battery
16 megapixel camera
overall size and Yuga almost. The hardware configuration the stereotypes too early to say, may change next October.

One is a mid-ranger destined for H1, with a gig and a half of RAM, and the other a 6" handset with 3 GB of RAM and the mind-boggling 3,500 mAh battery. We've heard rumors about a 6" phone from Sony, and we've had Toshiba demonstrate one high-res panel of this size before. Sony and Toshiba are partners in the Japan Display Co undertaking, so anything is possible, but a 6" size seems too much already, unless it is devoid of the bezel.
The most interesting part of the tip, however, is the Q4 flasghip of Sony, said to be intended for an October release. It is listed as a quad-core Cortez-A15 endeavor, but neither Qualcomm, nor NVIDIA with Tegra 4 are in the mix. It is also claimed to feature 3 GB of RAM, 16 MP camera, and 3,000 mAh battery, all worthy ingredients. The overall size is said to be around the Yuga, with the final design still being decided upon.
Now that phone would be a sight to behold - between the 5" of the Droid DNA and eventually Galaxy S IV, the rumored 5.5" Optimus G2, and the claimed 5/6" Sony flagships, next year is shaping up to push the final limits of smartphone screen size and resolution.
