Sony Z1 Honami tester comments on a prototype's G Lens camera, chassis and display
The Sony Z1 Honami, you know, the upcoming Android cameraphone, is in the hands of testers, and one of them added more info to what we already heard here and there.
First, the camera - the tester says it is indeed branded G Lens, but he doesn't see a "wow factor" in it, and if the leaked samples are any indication that might hold true, though we'll have to get the retail unit before passing any judgment. It's not clear whether the Honami he got was wrapped up as a "mule" of sorts, or is it the final design, as his measurements showed a suspiciously heavily, 190 grams device.
As for the screen, a 5" Triluminous panel got confirmed, though the display seems to have been of poorer contrast when placed next to the Z Ultra, yet we'll again wait for a review unit to judge the screen quality. Here's the original scoop:
The metal power button is so much smaller than the one on Z and the phone is a bit heavy. Almost same weight as Z ultra... 5" and almost same weight as Z Ultra (which is thinner), I guess it's the battery. Yes it's thicker, similar to Z.
It's brighter and more white than Z/V. And also X-Reality colors are not as saturated as Bravia Engine 2. Z Ultra display is better with richer colors and contrast although both are using the same screen. I just did a comparison side by side with Z Ultra. Z Ultra is much better whereas Honami is whiter/brighter. But take it with a grain of salt as I think the firmware in Honami is old.
Tried the camera, nothing to be wow about seriously. There's this bo liao app where you can take AR effect like a 3D dinosaur/fairies in the backdrop lol
