Sony Xperia Z1 Compact size comparison: David against Goliaths
After many rumors and leaks, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has finally gone official. A 4.3-inch phone that does not compromise on performance, running on the same Snapdragon 800 system chip as most flagships and featuring a top-notch 20-megapixel camera, the Xperia Z1 Compact is in a fairly unique position. Comparing it to its 4.3-inch Android peers, it’s way more powerful, and there is just one device that can rival it in terms of both size and performance - the Motorola Moto X.
Nonetheless, the Xperia Z1 Compact will still face competition from the heros of the day - larger devices like the Apple iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4 and HTC One. We have decided to compare its size to those exact devices, and see really how much smaller it is. You can see the difference for yourself below - it is huge, and for those who value single-handed operation and pocketability, the new Sony ‘mini’ would be a great fit.
The Z1 Compact is still a bit larger than the iPhone 5s (the Sony one packs a larger screen), but not much. The Moto X is a bit wider, but still in the same ballpark. All other devices grow much wider and are harder to hold and operate with a single hand. The only thing that Sony had to compromise on is thickness - the new ‘mini’ is a hair thicker than the Xperia Z1 at 9.5mm. For all else, though, the Xperia Z1 Compact is the small and powerful Android many of us have been waiting for.
