Sony Xperia XZ and X Compact coming soon to the US
Earlier today, at IFA 2016, Sony announced the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact - its latest (and greatest?) Android smartphones.

The company didn't specifically say in what markets it's planning to release the two handsets, but we can now tell you that both will be available in the US at some point.

The Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are listed as "coming soon" over at the official Sony Mobile US website, and customers can already register their interest for the XZ (but not yet for the X Compact).

Globally, the Xperia X Compact should be available as soon as next week, while the Xperia XZ will be launched starting October. While we don't know if that's also when the US should get the phones, we're pretty certain that the devices will be sold unlocked stateside - just like most of Sony's other handsets released in the US in the last several years.

Mind you, among the two new phones, only the Xperia XZ is water-resistant (IP68 certified), so you'll have to be careful with the Xperia X Compact around water. That aside, there are various other differences between the handsets, including the fact that the Xperia XZ is larger and more powerful, which means it'll be more expensive (though exact pricing details haven't been unveiled). Before deciding if you want to buy any of them, you can find out more about Sony's brand new smartphones by checking out our Xperia XZ hands-on and Xperia X Compact hands-on.
