Sony Xperia M2 is updated to Android 4.4.2
On Friday, the Sony Xperia M2 started to receive its update to Android 4.4.2. The single SIM version of the mid-ranger, in both LTE (D2303) and HSPA+ (D2305) flavors, is being updated to firmware versions 18.3.C.0.37 and 18.3.A.0.31 respectively. The update includes a new home launcher, new themes, new Sony Media apps and the new Quick Settings feature. The Sony social camera app receives the Portrait ReTouch capability, and there is a new boot-up animation.

The Sony Xperia M2 features a 4.8 inch display with resolution of 540 x 960 (qHD), which works out to a pixel density of 229ppi. A quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU is driving Miss Daisy while graphics-wise, the Adreno 305 is on board. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of native storage. Of that amount, 5GB can be used by the owner of the phone for memory. If more storage is needed, a 32GB capacity microSD slot is available.  On back is an 8MP camera, and there is also a front-facing shooter. The 2300mAh battery keeps the lights on.

Now with Android 4.4.2, the Sony Xperia M2 is receiving the update in regions like Russia, Singapore, Thailand, and France. And yes, we should point out that the update is not available OTA, and can only be received from PC Companion. So far, the update is not available for the Dual SIM version of the phone.

Thanks for the tip, Anurag!
