Sony Ericsson releases the MR1 update for the Xperia X2
Although it was originally expected to come in March, the MR1 firmware update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is finally being rolled out to owners globally. Even though we're already into the early portion of April, the update is still welcomed by owners seeing that it'll provide a much needed face lift to enhance the Windows Mobile experience on the handset. The official Xperia blog does not say specifically what is actually seen with the MR1 update, it supposedly bumps the platform to Windows Mobile 6.5.2 and features video calling, FM radio, faster GPS location fix, and a host of other enhancements to improve the stability and usability of the smartphone. Still early into its life cycle, it's nice to see that support is still coming in steadily as the Xperia X10 is about to make its North American landing with Rogers. Now that the MR1 firmware update is here, Xperia X2 owners are still looking forward to the next update installment that's alleged to bring the handset to Windows Mobile 6.5.3.
