Sony Ericsson announces W995, the new Walkman flagship
And here we go! The good news start with Sony Ericsson and their new Walkman flagship model, the W995, previously known as the Hikaru. The new device will sport a lot of high-end features in order to offer the ultimate in multimedia experience.

To begin with, the W995 will have a 2.6-inch QVGA scratch-resistant TFT screen, supporting up to 262k colors. The phone will be equipped with an 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus, which we consider a really good achievement, having in mind that this would be more of a music-oriented phone. In addition, “standard” features like Wi-Fi and aGPS are also included. Out of the box, the new Walkman will come with an 8GB M2 memory card, in order to extend the 118 MB built-in memory. The music-dedicated control keys will be on the right side of the phone, and the 3.5mm jack will be on the top. Other tasty features include a PlayStation 3 compatibility, which means that you will be able to share media from the W995 to your PS3 over Wi-Fi and thus easily get it played on your TV.

The W995 will come in three color solutions: Progressive Black, Cosmic Silver and Energetic Red, aiming to satisfy all tastes. We will be able to enjoy this one in select markets from Q2 2009, available in two versions: one for the European/Asian markets with a dual-band 3G (900/2100 MHz) support and another for the U.S market, coming with a tri-band 3G (850/1900/2100 MHz).
