Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 close to AT&T launch?
Remember the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 with the panel based UI? Of course you don't, as the phone never caught on with a U.S. carrier. The same fate seemed to be in store for the Android flavored Xperia X10. The handset remains the flagship model for the joint venture but still has not been offered at a subsidized price in the States. This apparently is all about to change as the word is that the handset has finally made it through through AT&T's technical acceptance process and could be launched through the carrier in the next few weeks.
Originally slated to be released with Android 1.6, the model is in line for a Android 2.1 update in Q4 as we reported. That will still leave the device one upgrade behind those running Froyo. Also, as we previously told you, the Xperia X10 will not support multi-touch. With all that in mind, we would expect a $149 price tag on the device, just shy of the recent $199 gold standard for high end phones.
