Google Assistant is coming to Sonos One and Sonos Beam, older speaker models too
Amazon and Google continue to put their virtual assistants – Alexa and Assistant on everything that supports the ecosystems, including older products that lacked the technology. The newest announcement that focuses on one of the most complex virtual assistants is aimed at Sonos users.
Google has just announced that it's bringing the Assistant to the Sonos One smart speaker and Sonos Beam sound bar. Also, Google Assistant will be added to older Sonos smart speakers later on, the search giant confirmed in a statement.
Google Assistant will allow Sonos One and Sonos Beam users to control music, podcasts, and radio stations without having to pick up their phones. Sonos promised to bring the Google Assistant to its smart speakers two years ago but testing only begun a few months ago.
Before Sonos started testing Google Assistant, it teamed up with Amazon to bring Alexa to these two devices. Anyway, we are now waiting for Sonos and Google to reveal the Assistant roll-out dates for earlier speaker models, although that may take a while.
