SlingPlayer for iPhone/iPod Touch updated with HQ video
SlingPlayer, if you aren't already familiar with it, is an app that allows users to remotely control and watch their TV or DVR on their mobile device. You will also need a Slingbox, which connects to your setup at home.
The updated version of SlingPlayer Mobile adds high-quality video to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Fortunately, you can still use your existing Slingbox PRO-HD or Slingbox SOLO for the updated video quality, after you've downloaded the updated software.
To take advantage of the HQ video, you will need an 800kbps connection over Wi-Fi, or at least 500kbps over 3G. If you want to check your current speed, tap the 'SQ' icon, then 'Options,' and the bandwidth will be visible in the lower-left corner.
The 2.0 update will also add the updated program guide (see below), which was recently added to the iPad version. Just FYI, there are also versions available for Android, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry, Symbian, and PalmOS. The app itself is available for US$29.99, and the Slingboxes are available for $179.99 (Slingbox SOLO) and $299.99 (Slingbox PRO-HD). Watch on, media-junkies.
