Shiny is hip! LG G6 rumored to sport a glass back, borderless edge-to-edge display, and other goodies
So, for the past couple of days, we've been seeing various leaks and renders of the upcoming LG G6. The rumors suggest that LG has given up on the modular concept, which was introduced with the G5 and widely ignored by the general public, and is moving to a more conventional take, evolving the G5's shapes.
Now, another leak sheds some more light on what LG may have in store for us. According to the anonymous report, the G6 will sport a glass panel on its back, and what some call a “2.5D display” on the front. Don't worry, 2.5D isn't something mind-bogglingly techy — it's just a way to describe a glass panel, which goes almost fully end to end, leaving almost no side bezels, and is arched in a way that makes it transition seamlessly into the phone's body. That very arch is why the term 2.5D was coined. Not entirely accurate, but hey — neither is “4D cinema”.
Back to the G6 rumors, the leakster says that we will be seeing wireless charging and water-resistance added to LG's flagship — long overdue features, especially considering that the manufacturer has Samsung's Galaxy phones to compete with. Display size is said to remain the same as the one on the G5 – 5.3 inches. Maybe the G6 will be slightly more compact, then?
Thanks for the tip!
