Sharp developing 3D touchscreen displays that work without glasses
Innovation in mobile phones can come from the rising popularity we see with 3D movies and television sets that are beginning to show their presence in great numbers across a wide array of audiences. Following a similar path, Sharp is currently developing a glass-less 3D touchscreen for mobile phones that rely on users viewing the display at approximately 1 foot away in order to experience the most convincing 3D effects. Even though this new technology is still in the infant stages, it does beat having to rely on carrying 3D glasses with you whenever you have to use your phone. The 3D touchscreens that were being demoed by Sharp has the ability of switching from either 2D or 3D – but the size of the screen is maxed out at 3.4 inches. They've made some progress with the technology as they've noted the improved brightness levels and the ability to view 3D content in either portrait or landscape mode. There's no doubt this will become a focus for manufacturers down the road as the market looks to have reached that saturation point where there are few innovative mobile phones that can stand out among the crop.
