Second time's the charm for LG's BL40 as it gets FCC green light again, this time with U.S. 3G
LG's BL40, the super sexy, sleek device dubbed the "New Chocolate" by the manufacturer, recently made a trip through the FCC as we reported. At the time, there was no 3G banding for the U.S., and the theory was that the 3G would be enabled later this year when the handset would be launched by Canadian carrier Telus as one of the first models on its new HSDPA network. Yesterday, a variant of the phone, the BL40g passed through the FCC carrying 3G connectivity on the 850 and 1900MHz bands. While Engadget is reporting that they have been told by LG that there is currently no plan to bring the "New Chocolate" to the U.S., this could be the version of the BL40 that will be wearing the Telus brand while trying to dodge that cold, artic Canadian air.
