Samsung's flexible 4.5" AMOLED screen caught on video
Samsung Mobile Display is at the forefront of screen development for various gadgets, and AMOLED's wonderful qualities, like simplified circuitry, have allowed it to make a 4.5" display you can bend with your two fingers to half an inch radius.
Samsung says that ghosting is almost negligible on the flexible display with 0.4" (1cm) radius. The screen has a quick response time, low power consumption, and a thin profile. Sammy has achieved the flexibility by swapping the usual rigid glass substrate with a special plastic, allowing for inside circuitry without melting during production.
Unlike the previous 240x400 pixels attempts, this one sports the rather decent 480x800 pixels of resolution. Hey, that's more than what we have on the Samsung Infuse 4G's 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus display already! The only question now is, can we bend the screen on AT&T's handset too? We guess not, but it was a fun thought while it lasted. Have a look at the video below, and start thinking about possible applications for one hard-working, but humble flexible AMOLED screen.
