Samsung wants to trademark the Galaxy S Neo name
It looks like Samsung is pretty serious about using the name “Neo” for some of its new Android devices. The company unveiled a Galaxy Grand Neo earlier this week, launched a dual-SIM Galaxy S III Neo+ in China, and it might officially announce the rumored Galaxy Note 3 Neo sometime in February.

Next, we could also see a Galaxy S Neo.

Samsung filed for a “Galaxy S Neo” trademark in the US earlier this month. According to the application filing, the trademark should cover not only “mobile telephones”, but also digital cameras, portable media players, portable computers, tablet computers, 3D eye glasses, digital set-top boxes, wireless headsets, rechargeable batteries, flip covers, and other related devices and accessories. This is a pretty standard trademark application filing, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that Samsung will use the Galaxy S Neo name for so many devices.

Our guess is that the Galaxy S Neo could be an affordable smartphone, possibly a modern version of the original WVGA Galaxy S that was launched back in 2010. Of course, Samsung might not use the new name at all (the trademark filing may not be approved). But we will certainly be here to let you know if it does use it.
