Samsung unveils the 10nm LPDDR4 6GB DRAM chip heading for the Galaxy Note 6?
In 2012, the Japanese version of the Samsung Galaxy S III had 2GB of DRAM. At the time, this was surprising. The U.S. version of the phone contained 1GB of DRAM, which was the standard at the time. Four short years later, we are now entering the 6GB DRAM era on Android phones. And Samsung is joining the parade as it has announced its latest DRAM chip for high-end handsets. During the Samsung Mobile Solutions Forum held in Shenzhen, China yesterday, Sammy revealed a new LPDDR4 6GB DRAM chip produced using the 10nm process. That should make the chip more power efficient, helping to extend the battery life of new handsets using it.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be a beast if the rumored specs are true. We're talking about a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. A 4000mAh battery is said to be inside. Historically, Samsung has stuffed the Galaxy Note with the latest hardware and software available to it, usually keeping the phablet ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S series. Putting the new 10nm LPDDR4 6GB DRAM chip inside the Galaxy Note 6 would be exactly what we would expect from the manufacturer.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was released last August. If the new Galaxy Note 6 has a similar release date, that would give us plenty of time for more leaks and rumors of the phablet to surface. Sammy is building another beast and the puzzle pieces are beginning to come together. Stay tuned!
