Samsung is allegedly pitching its 18.4-inch tablet to South Korean telecom operators
According to reports from the South Korean media, Samsung recently held meetings with local telecom operators to pitch the 18.4-inch tablet that we've heard about on a few occasions in the past month.
If the reports are to be believed, several major telecom operators in South Korea, such as SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+ have been recently briefed on the upcoming tablet. Allegedly, the gargantuan slab will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of the year.
Previous rumors claimed that the Android tablet, codenamed Tahoe internally, will come with mediocre specs such as a TFT LCD panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels at a PPI of 120, a mid-range Exynos 7580 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 5700mAh battery. About a month ago, an import listing revealed that a prototype of the tablet was based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Reports claim that the tablet will be aimed at business/office use, although increasing demand for watching videos on larger screens might see it land in the end-user segment as well. With tablet sales dwindling, multiple tablet makers are reportedly looking to differentiate upcoming slabs from large-screened smartphones by coming up with larger screens, but it remains to be seen if this strategy can help turn sales around.
We'll probably hear more about this TV-sized Samsung tablet in the upcoming months, so keep tuned.
