Samsung introduces a slew of new devices during CES 2006

When launched in January, Samsung zx10 will be the first N. America's UMTS phone, supporting both 850 and 1900 Mhz frequencies. The main specification include 1.3 mega pixel camera, MicroSD memory expandion and video and audio streaming

During CES Samsung will showcase their first HSDPA capable phone which actually is expected to be the world's first. The zx20 will support quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE plus dual band HSDPA/UMTS frequencies!

| Samsung A930 |
Samsung SCH-A930 is a slim multimedia phone for Verizon wireless(supposedly), sharing some of the Blade (SPH-A900) features. It sports clamshell design with music-dedicated keys on the front cover, MP3 music player, and memory expansion through T-Flash cards. The SCH-A930 has dual displays, swiveling 1.3-megapixel camera with video record capability and stereo speakers. Other features include:
- Video on Demand (VOD) and Music on Demand (MOD)
- Bluetooth
- VibeTonz-enhanced ringtones
Samsung A930 is expected in the first quarter of 2006.
| Samsung T709 |
Samsung SGH-T709 is a new slider phone for T-Mobile, supporting GSM/EDGE 850/1800/1900 frequencies. The display is 262k color one with 1.3-megapixel camera that can snap video files. The T709 supports Instant Messaging (AOL, ICQ, Yahoo supported) and features speaker-independent voice recognition. The specifications reveal that it would also feature Wi-Fi for wireless connection, something rarely found in devices, especially in this class. Other features include:
- Dimensions: 3.7 x 1.7 x .88; 3.3 ounces
- MP3 player and ringtones
The SGH-T709 is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2006, and T-Mobile will first carry it.
| Samsung T609 |
Samsung SGH-T609 is quad-band GSM/EDGE clamshell phone with dual-screens (the internal one supports 262k colors) and 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder. The T609 features Bluetooth and supports FOTA (Allows for remote upgrade of software on phone) and SyncML DM (Allows carrier to remotely configure the phone). It has 32MB of built-in memory, which can be expanded through T-flash cards and features MP3 music media player and instant messenger.
The SGH-T609 is expected in the third quarter of the 2006.
| Samsung i830 |
As expected, Samsung i830 will become available to Verizon Wireless large account customers on January 12. The device practically has the same features as its predecessor SCH-i730, apart from the fact that it lacks WiFi capability and besides being dual-band CDMA it is also a dual-band GSM phone. The Samsung SCH-i830 PDA is based on Microsoft Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition 2003. It features:
- 65k color TFT touchscreen display
- Bluetooth
- QWERTY sliding keyboard
- SD memory expansion slot
- 520 MHz Intel Bulverde processor
