Samsung dominates AnTuTu's list of the world's most popular phones for the first half of 2016
Benchmark site AnTuTu provided lists today of the ten most popular smartphones in different regions of the world, for the first half of 2016. The global list was dominated by Samsung branded handsets as five of the top six phones were produced by the manufacturer. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 topped the list, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and the Samsung Galaxy S7. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 rounded out the top five.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge finished sixth followed by the Meizu MX 5. The LG G3 managed to finish in eighth place while the LeEco 1s and Meizu Metal were ninth and tenth respectively.
Different regions obviously had different lists. In the U.S., six of the top ten were Samsung models. On top was the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, right behind. The Huawei built Nexus 6P finished third with the Nexus 6 in fourth place. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S7 were fifth and sixth respectively. The next two handsets were the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, followed by one of the OnePlus models and the Nexus 5X.
