Yes, The new iPad was just introduced yesterday and already it appears like it might be the subject of legal action by Samsung. The Korean based tech giant asked the Australian court where it has been battling with Apple, for an emergency hearing. The request was made after yesterday's event which leads to the speculation that the third-generation Apple tablet is involved. While there is no information about precisely what is on Samsung's agenda, there is the possibility that Sammy's attorneys could be seeking an injunction against the launch of The new iPad.
Already the subject of a court battle?
Friday morning at 10:30 am local time, an emergency hearing is scheduled for the court room of Justice Annabelle Bennett, who has presided over the legal battles between Samsung and Apple in Australia and temporarily blocked sales of the Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 last October. Patent blogger Florian Mueller said that he would be surprised if Samsung brought up patents related to essential 3G standards which it has made an issue of in earlier cases involving the Apple iPad and Apple iPhone. Mueller also noted that non-essential patents that Samsung brought in up in U.S. and German litigation have proven to be ineffective. Final hearings on Samsung's suit against Apple, some of which fall under French jurisdiction, are set to be hear in September and October.
