Samsung Rugby Smart landing on AT&T soon: ruggedized, tough, waterproof
The Samsung Rugby Smart is finally making its entrance on AT&T after a couple of leaks here and there, and it’s every bit as exciting for lovers of tough gadgets as they’ve hoped for. The Rugby Smart is a ruggedized handset and it’s also waterproof, but don’t go scuba diving with it - it will only survive one hour of being submerged not deeper than in 3.3 feet (1 meter) of water.

The Samsung Rugby Smart meets 810F standards for toughness, which should guarantee it stands its ground in the toughest of conditions.

Rugged phones are slowly but surely adopting smart platforms like Android and this one even has “Smart” in its name. It ships with Gingerbread, though, so leave your hopes of seeing ICS on a rugged device just yet. Here are the rest of its spec highlights:

- 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen,
- 5MP rear facing autofocus camera with LED flash,
- 720p video recording,
- 1.3MP front-facing camera,
- 4GB of internal storage,
- 1,650mAh battery,
- 0.48” (12.19mm) thick,
- 4.2 ounces of weight.

Finally, the Samsung Rugby Smart release date is set for March 4th, so it’s going to hit AT&T stores pretty soon. The Rugby Smart price stands at $99 with a two-year contract.
