Samsung Pay now available in Mexico
Mobile payment service Samsung Pay is now making its way to Mexico, where it will be the 20th global market (the second in Latin America) to welcome the service. While Samsung Pay does work with retailers that have NFC installed on their POS systems, it also is equipped with Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology. That allows Samsung Pay to work with any retailer who allows consumers to swipe their credit cards to make a payment; that covers just about every store in the world that is open for business. As a result, Samsung Pay works at more retail locations than other services that are limited to supporting NFC only.
Samsung says that its mobile payment service uses three different levels of security including biometrics authentication (fingerprints or iris recognition), Tokenization (the use of virtual information created with each transaction, not stored on the user's Samsung handset), and Samsung Knox (employed to make sure that there is no suspicious activity on a user's phone).
