It's Unpacked day, the time of the year when Samsung announces new amazing phones and software. And today, Samsung launched its latest S23 series and the all-new Android 13-based One UI 5.1, which brings many improvements and a few new features to Galaxy phones.
Samsung Notes is already one of the best note-taking apps out there, but One UI 5.1 makes it even better. Now, thanks to Samsung's collaboration with Google, you can co-edit a document with your colleagues or friends using Samsung Notes while you are on a video call on Google Meet.
One UI 5.1 also enables you to use your Galaxy Book and smartphone as if they were one device. You can now use the mouse, keyboard, or trackpad of your Galaxy Book to do stuff like copy and paste text and drop images from your computer to your phone.
With One UI 5.1, Galaxy users can now access Samsung's Expert RAW app directly within their Galaxy phone's native Camera application. The Expert RAW app lets users capture raw images, and it's available on only select Galaxy phones, including the S23 and S22 series and the Z Fold 4.
According to rumors, One UI 5.1 also improves Routines — a function that lets you create a specific series of actions that your phone will trigger based on your activities. With the latest version of One UI, Routines should now be able to control Quick Share and touch sensitivity and alter the ringtone and the style of the font. Rumors also suggest that One UI 5.1 now enables you to set specific wallpapers on the lock and home screens, which will change depending on your current activities. This will let you set a wallpaper for work and another for your workout.
Rumor has it that One UI 5.1 also lets you use Bixby Text Call in English. This function was added with One UI 5.0, but you could use it only if you speak Korean. In case you are not familiar with what Bixby Text Call is, this is a feature that lets you answer calls automatically. It also converts the words of the caller into text and lets you reply via a text message, which is then read aloud by an automated voice.
At the moment, One UI 5.1 is available only on the Galaxy S23 lineup, but Samsung announced that it will come to other Galaxy phones soon.
