Samsung Internet Browser v6.4 released with loads of new features in tow
Samsung has just announced that its mobile browser has just received a major update that's currently being rolled out in the Google Play Store. After some extensive beta testing, Samsung Internet 6.4 is out as stable with a couple of completely new features that weren't available in the beta.
The most important addition to the app is called Web Bluetooth, which is enabled by default. The new feature will enable web apps to connect to Bluetooth devices seamlessly. Furthermore, the app allows users to monitor and control their downloads much easier. New options like pause, resume and cancel downloads have been added in the notification panel and Download History page.
When it comes to security, Samsung Internet Browser 6.4 comes with Chromium patches to prevent attacks known as “Spectre.” There are a couple of other new features aimed at specific markets like China and India.
For example, for Chinese users, Samsung Internet Browser offers a special default Start Page, which provides local and up-to-date content from various partners like Weibo, Baidu, and Tencent.
Users in India will now benefit from a new feature called Data Save UI, which should help them see how much data they are saving while using Samsung Internet Browser. Also, support for the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a standard payment system in India, has been implemented, which allow users to transfer money between two parties.
Finally, Samsung has teamed up with India Today to offer users in the country live cricket scores. The new feature is only available via the optional India Today Cricket extension that can be downloaded separately through the Extensions menu.
