Samsung Gear Sport gets an "official launch" film, but no release date
In late August, Samsung announced the Gear Sport, a newTizen-based smartwatch aimed at very active users. While the company didn't sayexactly when the Gear Sport would be released, the smartwatch is likely goingto hit shelves in the near future. That's because Samsung today published aGear Sport "official launch film."
As you can see above, the launch film's main idea is thatthe Samsung Gear Sport is a smartwatch that enables you to "go beyondfitness." It can do that thanks to stuff like water resistance (up to 50meters), weight management features, built-in GPS for accurate tracking, andeven a standalone music player.
The Gear Sport does not have cellular connectivity, so youcan't use it to make calls. However, you can pair it with Android and iOSphones (via Bluetooth) to receive notifications, sync fitness apps, and evenrespond to text messages. The new wearable can also be used to make purchasesvia Samsung Pay, thanks to built-in NFC.
The official price of the Samsung Gear Sport should bearound $350. If you're not yet sure this is a smartwatch for you, feel free tocheck out our Gear Sport hands-on.
