Samsung Gear S2 and Gear Fit 2 soon to support iPhones, Manager app currently in beta testing
Back in the beginning of 2016, Samsung promised that it would bring support for its circular Gear S2 smartwatch to iPhone users, with a Gear Manager app for iOS. Some months passed and there was no word on progress, though a leak in April did show that there is, indeed, a Gear app being worked on for Apple's ecosystem. And then, again, silence.
Well, no more – it seems Sammy is in the final stages of developing the app and is gearing up (harr harr) for a global rollout in September. Currently, a beta test program has been initiated in the company's home country of South Korea, and it seems that iPhone users will be able to pair both the Gear S2 smartwatch and the new Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker to their smartphones. The program is supposed to run until the 19th of September, at which point, we suppose, a launch date should be unveiled.

Samsung's press invitation for a September 1st event seems to promise that a new smartwatch is to be launched, and, considering that the Gear S2 was announced around the same time last year, it's safe to assume that we're about to see a Gear S3 on stage. Obviously, if there's ever a good moment for Samsung to announce that its smartwatches can now work with iPhones, it's in September – the month when the new Gear S and the new iPhones are expected to launch.
