Android Oreo update rolling out OTA for Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ in three more markets
Last week, Samsung started rolling out the Android Oreo update to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ in the Netherlands and in Germany. The update, which includes the Samsung Experience 9.0 UI, weighs in at 487.04MB and carries firmware version G950/G955-FXXU1CRAP for both of Samsung's 2017 flagship models. Today, the update is being pushed out to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ models in India, Poland and France. In all three countries, those who participated in the beta program are getting first crack at the OTA update.
Samsung is trying to get the latest Android build on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ models prior to the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9+, which will take place on February 25th during the Samsung Unpacked event in Barcelona. Both 2018 flagships will have Android Oreo pre-installed along with the Samsung Experience 9.0 UI.
Among the changes in Android 8.0, you'll find the picture-in-picture feature, which will allow you to play a video on the screen while another app is available for you to use in the background. Adaptive icons will allow the same app to have a different icon shape on various devices. On a Samsung handset, an app might have a squircle icon while on a Moto unit it might be round. The Settings menu is getting streamlined, and notification dots will appear on the icons of apps that have a notification that you have yet to tend to.
