Here's the first high-res render of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active

Although Samsung already inadvertently confirmed the existence of the Galaxy S8 Active, the smartphone has yet to be announced. Nevertheless, we're assuming that the handset will be officially unveiled in the near future, as we've already seen it plenty of times - in leaked slides, live photos, and even a hands-on video.

While we're waiting for Samsung to finally announce the Galaxy S8 Active, today, we can take a look at the very first high-resolution render of it. The render - included above - allows us to better see the phone's rugged design, including the fact that its margins are raised to protect the screen. Speaking of it, the screen of the S8 Active is a 5.8-inch AMOLED one with 1440 x 2960 pixels - it's not curved (as the displays of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are), but it does have rounded corners.

Since this render comes from Evan Blass, aka @evleaks (who has an excellent track record when it comes to revealing unannounced smartphones), we're pretty sure that this is the real Galaxy S8 Active.

Similar to Samsung's previous Active smartphones, the Galaxy S8 Active is drop-proof (from heights of up to 5 feet) and packs a pretty generous battery (4000 mAh). That aside, the handset has most of the features that you can find on the non-rugged S8 and S8+, including a Snapdragon 835 processor, 8 MP and 12 MP cameras (front and rear), 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of expandable internal memory, and Android 7 Nougat.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be available in the US via AT&T - the only carrier to offer Galaxy Active phones stateside since their debut several years ago. Pricing details will likely be revealed soon. Stay tuned!
