Samsung Galaxy S7 Active spec leak reveals new screen-size, battery details
That Samsung's been working on another special rugged edition of its flagship Galaxy smartphone has been something of an open secret for the past few months. A seemingly inadvertent mention of the Galaxy S7 Active in an app listing back in March appeared to offer some official confirmation that the phone was on its way to launch, and subsequent leaks have given us a good look at how we're expecting the handset to appear. Separately, benchmark leaks have helped shed some light on other aspects of the phone's hardware, including a 5.5-inch screen that seemed to be mirroring the Galaxy S7 edge more closely than the 5.1-inch GS7 itself. But now a new report has us rethinking some of that, as a supposedly official GS7 Active spec sheet leaks.
The big news is that the Galaxy S7 Active is now tipped to pick up a 5.1-inch 2560x1440-pixel (quad HD) display, just like the Galaxy S7 – no big 5.5-inch panel here.
We also see some physical details that were absent from benchmarks, including the handset measuring in at a hefty 9.9mm thick. Those increases extend to the phone's weight, topping the scales at 185 grams.
Galaxy S Active family members are known for their larger-than-normal batteries, and the GS7 Active shouldn't disappoint, getting a 4,000mAh power pack.
The Galaxy S7 Active sure looks like it will debut as an exclusive model for AT&T, with the latest evidence pointing to a likely June 10 launch.

Other hardware details align with the Galaxy S7 proper, including the presence of 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, and the same 12MP/5MP camera pair.
