Samsung: Galaxy S6 to be an 'innovative premium handset,' concept renders try to envision it
After the purported Galaxy S6 prototypes we showed you earlier, now a more polished look has been created in the form of concept renders, alluding to what Samsung's upcoming flagship might look like, based on the company's recent design trend with the Alpha, A-series, and the Note 4.
Interestingly enough, Korean media is abuzz today with Samsung’s head of IR, Rober Yi, saying during an earnings call that the company will be releasing an “innovative premium handset” with a “special function”. We don't know about that mysterious function, but if the prototypes with aluminum side rim we showed you earlier are any indication, he might mean that the S6 is indeed coming with a more premium metal-clad chassis. In fact, Mr Yi indirectly confirmed the copious usage of quality materials for the S6 shell by reassuring investors that Samsung won't have any issues producing a metal chassis in large quantities, both internally, or from third-party suppliers.
"We will strengthen our industry leadership with the slim design of the metal-clad products and AMOLED display," he mentioned, adding further fuel to the fire that pegged some analysts to declare 2015 'the year of Samsung' the other day. The new metal chassis paradigm is now expected to shift to Samsung's midrangers as well, not only the flagships. As for the screen part of that statement, Chang-Hoon Lee, the managing director of Samsung Display, dropped another indication that we might see a Galaxy Edge alongside the S6. He tried to reassure investors in his turn that Samsung's new A3 flexible AMOLED production line will be operating full capacity to "actively respond to [the] demand for flexible smartphone [screens]."
Thanks for the tip!
