Samsung Galaxy Note 8 might be codenamed “Baikal”
Now that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 saga is behind us, except for a few lawsuits, we can start looking into the future. And D.J. Koh confirmed the Note 8 is coming in the very near future.
According to new rumors from China, the codename of the future phablet might be “Baikal”. For those not familiar with the name, Baikal is a Siberian lake, which is also the deepest lake in the world. If Samsung indeed named the new phablet after the Russian lake, we can't help but to wonder why.
The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with a 4K display for better VR experience, and Samsung's new AI assistant – Bixby. It's also rumored that LG might be supplying the batteries for the upcoming phablet.
Of course, with a release date in the second half of the year, there is plenty of time for Samsung to change plans, so all rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.
