Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may feature three-sided display
Samsung is actively exploring the possibility of using a three-sided display in its Galaxy Note 4 flagship. The next-generation Galaxy Note phablet is planned for the second half of the year, and will be a high-end device, according to Samsung’s own VP of mobile Lee Young Hee.

What is a three-sided display? The term is usually used when speaking about Samsung’s Youm flexible screen technology. Its Galaxy Note 4 implementation is said to allow reading messages at an angle, and we’ve been seeing prototypes of such a screen that folds at the edges for years. Samsung showed a prototype at last year’s CES, and it might finally be able to implement the technology. We have embedded a video of that demonstration, and that’s exactly the kind of technology and functionality we expect to see in such a Galaxy Note 4.

“We are targeting consumers who want more professional use and tend to be willing to pay more for handsets,” Lee added when speaking about the next-generation Note phablet.

If this mysterious three-sided display that Samsung is actively pursuing is indeed of the Youm family, this would also mean that it’s made of plastic and unbreakable. This alone is a huge step forward as dropping your phone and shattering its display could be a costly exercise. We’re interested to hear your thoughts on this - are you excited about a three-sided display ending up on the next Galaxy Note?
