Android Oreo coming soon to Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy Xcover 4
Samsung continues to roll out Android Oreo updates for its mid-range smartphones, but many won't get it until next year. Luckily, that might not be the case when it comes to the Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy Xcover 4.
Both phones have been recently spotted at Wi-Fi Alliance, but the most intriguing thing is that both are running Android 8.0 Oreo. It's not the first time that we've seen an old smartphone being certified at Wi-Fi Alliance because they are likely to receive a new major software update.
It usually takes about a month for a smartphone that was certified at the Wi-Fi Alliance with a new version of Android on board to actually receive it. It's true that Google is already rolling out Android 9.0 Pie, but these are just mid-range phones that are lucky to get Oreo.
So, if you own either of the two handsets – Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime or Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4, expect an Android 8.0 Oreo to drop in the coming weeks if nothing bad happens.
