Samsung is working on a massive overhaul of its portfolio of Android smartphones: rumors so far have mentioned that in 2016, we're likely to see the new Galaxy A series: the Galaxy A3X, A5X, and A7X.

One step above them all is a phone called the Samsung Galaxy A9. A rumored 5.5-inch phone, the Galaxy A9 has already surfaced prematurely in GeekBench scores and in rumors, and this latest appearance of the mysterious device reiterates expectations for a device that will be just a step below flagship status.

The Galaxy A9 has surfaced in an AnTuTu benchmark score and here are the specs highlights that are mentioned there:

Model name: Galaxy A9 (SM-A9000)
Platform: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
Display: 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display
SoC: Snapdragon 620 (MSM8976) with Adreno 510 GPU
RAM: 3GB
Internal storage: 32GB

It's not yet clear what cameras will be on the phone, but an educated guess would be a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and possibly, an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
