The Samsung Email app is for Samsung phones running Android 7.0 or higher
The Samsung Email app in the Google Play Store is only available to those using a Samsung handset running Android 7.0 or higher. While most of these phones already come with Samsung Email pre-installed, there have been more than 100 million downloads of the app. What would be the purpose of the app if it can only be downloaded on a phone which it already is pre-installed on? Like other manufacturers like HTC and Motorola discovered, it is easier to update these system apps through a Play Store update then it is to send it OTA.
We can't use the 100 million figure for any kind of estimate of handset sales since the app was added to the Play Store since January, which predates the launch of the 2017 high-end line up consisting of the
Samsung Galaxy S8,
Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the
Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The app, which is a free download for all compatible Samsung phones, supports POP3, IMAP, and Exchange ActiveSync. This way, you can find all of your emails in one app.
Recently,
Samsung did release its internet browser to the Google Play Store where it is available for all handsets running Android 5.0 or higher. Once available only for Samsung Galaxy, Nexus and Pixel handsets, the browser includes a Dark Mode and opens by default to the Google Search home page. Not limited just to Samsung devices, the browser has also been downloaded more than 100 million times.
