B&H has a trio of rugged CAT phones on sale for the holidays
The conditions of the deal/s may have changed since the initial publishing of this post.
Looking for a rugged smartphone that can handle a drop onto a hard surface, or fall into the toilet and still survive? You might want to look at CAT's line of Android powered handsets. These are handsets designed to be used worry-free at a construction site, or while lounging around at the pool. CAT phones are perfect for first responders, mountain climbers, farmers and anyone who works or plays hard outdoors.
Right now, B&H has deals on three CAT models. The unlocked CAT S41 is available for $399.99, a $250 or 38% savings. This is a 2017 phone with a Gorilla Glass 5 protected 5-inch LCD display carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution (FHD). This is the North American variant of the phone, which is compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile in the states. Under the hood is the Media Tek Helio P20 MT6757 SoC. 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage is inside, and the camera combo from back to front weighs in at 13MP and 8MP respectively. The device caries an IP68 certification rating, meaning that the CAT S41 can be submerged in water as deep as nearly 5 feet for as long as 30 minutes, and escape unscathed. A 5000mAh battery keeps the lights on, and with MIL-STD-810 certification, this unit can survive a drop as high as four feet in height. Android 7.0 Nougat is pre-installed, and while this model is currently out of stock, it should be available in 7 to 10 business days.
Released this past June, the unlocked CAT S61 is offered by B&H for $799.99, a $200 or 20% savings. The model features a Gorilla Glass 5 protected 5.2-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. A Snapdragon 620 Mobile Platform drives the device, which comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. A 16MP camera adorns the back, and an 8MP selfie snapper is found on the front of the handset. The phone comes with internal air quality sensors, and is powered by a 4500mAh battery. With an IP69 rating, the device can survive being submerged in nearly 10 feet of water for as long as 60 minutes. It also has MIL-STD-810 certification and carries Android 8.0 Oreo. This model, the North American variant of the phone, is in stock now and will work on GSM providers like AT&T and T-Mobile.
The third and last model discounted by B&H is the unlocked CAT S31, from 2017. This phone is priced at $279.99 for a $30 or 9.6% discount. This is a low-end model with a Gorilla Glass 3 protected 4.7-inch LCD display carrying a 720 x 1280 resolution (HD). The Snapdragon 210 SoC is under the hood, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage inside. There is an 8MP camera on back and a 2MP selfie snapper in front. Keeping the lights on is a 4000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat is running the show. Even though this is a low-end model, it still has an IP68 certification rating and has MIL-STD-810 certification. This unit is also the North American version of the handset, and is in stock now. It will work with GSM carriers in the U.S. such as AT&T and T-Mobile.
Any one of these three phones should be able to survive falls, rain, spills and more. While they may not have the latest and greatest hardware and software, they can handle the environment better that most handsets. If you or someone you know works in unforgiving conditions, one of these three CAT handsets might prove to be a good buy. All three phones are being offered by B&H with free expedited shipping.
