Rovio's Angry Birds opening their own bank for in-app purchasing
There were times when birds and pigs all over the world didn't mind each other at all, but since Rovio's Angry Birds broke into the mobile scene, nothing is the same. In all honesty, the Birds don't have to be so angry anymore, since they are going to consoles, inspiring other games and now set to open their own bank.
Dubbed "the Bad Piggy Bank", it will be used for in-app payment, which bypasses the Android Market. This means that your purchases will be charged directly on your telephone carrier's bill, which hints that carriers may be fighting for closer ties with developers. This potentially may lead us to a point where data plans, their reliability and prices are not going to be the only focal points for customers when choosing a carrier, and the influence of the apps that different carriers offer will increase.

Do you think this is the first step toward a fundamental shift of power from the app stores to the carriers or just one-off? And do you think this will affect you in any way? Tell us with your comments.
